After the birth of Bella in 2008, I quickly realised something every Mum knows – just how difficult it is to leave the house with a child.

Establishing a routine does not include mum and babe running around the city centre, grappling with awkward travel systems in car parks and queuing for hours to go up one flight in the lift (sharp elbows at the ready).

Even when you do manage a shopping trip it is punctuated by numerous nappy changes and feeding stops, which usually adds up to very little shopping time and some serious brain drain. All those belated gifts you had in mind languish on faraway shelves, meanwhile the pram’s basket is loaded with boring old nappies and formula milk. Oh, and guess what, the car parking ticket ran out ten minutes ago.

I only realised the true extent of the situation when I offered up a birthday present to my friend, only to be told that it was four months early (more like eight months late!) That’s when I turned to internet shopping. It changed my life forever, but you still have to know what you’re looking for… there is a real shortage of beautiful home and baby gifts out there – we’re talking high quality items with a bit of originality - and that’s when the idea for Sweetie Home was born.

I have sourced new and innovative products, as well as taking on established brands, in order to offer a really great range – we’re even having a crack at making some bespoke items ourselves. We hope to have made this site an experience like going to your favourite gift shop, except with all the space and time you need to browse. No need to lug the car seat in and navigate your way through hundreds of pounds worth of breakables here. Just make yourself a cuppa, sit down and relax. We aim to offer inspiration and honest recommendations (I only sell products that have been rigorously tested either by myself or Bella!).
