Summer Suppers

We all love getting together with friends, sipping chilled drinks and enjoying the light nights of the summer. That is exactly what I am planning to do on 27th August when me and my fellow fundraisers put on a gorgeous and exclusive event at The Mansion House in Jesmond.

We are raising money for a lovely little boy named Elijah, who was diagnosed with Spina Bifida when his mum was 30 weeks pregnant.

At the time his parents were given a pretty bleak picture of what life might look like, and were told that there would be very little chance of him ever being able to walk, that he would have difficulty with continence throughout his life and that he would probably have learning difficulties.

However, only days after he was born he did seem to have some movement in his legs. At about 9 months he learned to roll and at 12 months he learned to sit. Not long after he began to commando crawl. At 18 months, Elijah began to crawl and he is getting stronger week by week. He is even beginning to take some assisted steps.

We are aiming to raise enough money for Elijah to enable him to attend a therapy centre in Warrington called Brainwave. The Brainwave programme is aimed at achieving progress in all areas: physical, cognitive and developmental, and we believe it will help him enormously.
